Instead of wood burning warming stations (and the problems with keeping them fueled), the Lord Von Ultar decided to gift one hundred black iron and glass boxes energised by the immortal fire crystals his friend dug up from the core of a mountain. Now a mine, the mountain is a productive operation, both commercially and socially, as poor folk can ask for a loan of a small heating station. The fire crystals have rules and are precious, hence their secured place locked inside the iron box. But their heat is radiant and not dangerous to most substances or flesh they might heat, namely, their flames don't combust anything but can still, through constant exposure--scorch.
Happily, the capital of Saerad, Ton Marel (home of Mareldryn Castle and Queen Freydis) put the larger warming stations at strategic points throughout their districts, so that anyone can stand near them and regain their warmth, and dry out somewhat too.
These are the quick sketches, which haven't been developed with an Ai image yet. The sketches delight me, so I'm showing you them. Note the 'Hat warmer' for those who want to maintain the pristine cone shape of their head cosy. :-D
